PARTNERSHIPS
“The best partnerships aren’t dependent on a mere common goal but on a shared path of equality, desire, and no small amount of passion.” — Sarah MacLean
Who we work with
In our efforts to strengthen our impact and unify a greater population in supporting conservation, we prioritize working with other organizations that share our vision. These partnerships help us work more efficiently and effectively, streamlining our collective efforts in studying our watersheds and fish populations as well as taking action to protect them. By building these relationships with a multitude of organizations, tribes, and government agencies, we can approach the deeply complex planning needed to restore and reconnect whole watersheds while minimizing the potential for negative interactions and impact on individuals and the community. Together, our collaborations will lay the foundation for preserving our wild and native fish for generations to come.
Trout Unlimited
Trout Unlimited is the national organization under which the Washington Council of Trout Unlimited operates. They help organize nationwide initiatives and events aimed at bringing the conservation of trout, salmon, and the habitats they live in to legislators, tribal leaders, and communities. They also bring together anglers, conservationists, and others in their appreciation for fish, rivers, and restoring natural spaces. Visit their website to join Trout Unlimited, learn about the latest news in fish conservation, and more!
Wild Steelheaders United
Wild Steelheaders United is a national organization under Trout Unlimited’s Wild Steelhead initiative, which focuses on these unique fish. Unlike salmon, steelhead trout can make multiple journeys from fresh to salt water, with some of the oldest and largest recorded individuals estimated to be about 11 years old. In order to ensure these prized sport fish keep returning, protecting their habitat and water quality is imperative. Visit the Wild Steelheaders United website to learn more about this effort!
Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing
From the TU website: “One of our most significant partnerships is with Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing. Nearly 80 TU chapters run VSP programs through agreements with PHWFF. This is a very important partnership for both TU and PHWFF. PHWFF is dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and disabled veterans through fly fishing and associated activities including education and outings. The mission of the TU VSP includes service to this same constituency and to the larger community of our nation’s military family.”
