It’s time to hold the Biden Administration accou It’s time to hold the Biden Administration accountable to developing a comprehensive strategy that recovers endangered salmon and orca populations, upholds their legal obligations to Northwest tribes, removes the four lower Snake River dams, and invests in clean energy and transportation alternatives.

Great news coming from the White House Conservatio Great news coming from the White House Conservation Summit: President Biden has pledged to work with tribal and political leaders to recover wild salmon and steelhead populations in the Columbia River.

This is a huge step in the right direction, but now we need your help to let the federal government know removal of the lower four Snake River dams is critical to achieving this goal.

Join us on March 31 st from 10am-1pm PT for the Biden Administration’s virtual listening session on Snake River dams. Sign up at the link in our bio!

Have you heard about habitat fragmentation? This i Have you heard about habitat fragmentation? This is when parts of a larger habitat are destroyed, resulting in smaller areas that are unconnected. As contiguous habitats are disrupted, populations of plants and animals become isolated and have a harder time moving between different parts of their previous range, limiting access to resources, social interactions, and sometimes, the ability to thrive. While habitat fragmentation can happen as a result of wildfires, landslides, and other natural events, it is currently most commonly driven by human activity, such as the building of roads, which divides habitats and populations. For large species, there is danger in crossing these areas, and for some smaller species, such as bumblebees, the journey is impossible.

In a new article from the Seattle Times, found here: https://www.seattletimes.com/opinion/fund-the-protection-of-wildlife-and-habitat-for-all-washingtonians/ Kelly Susewind and Barbara Baker write on the importance of combating habitat fragmentation through the restoration of natural habitat, conservation of existing wilderness, and implementing wildlife crossings. By doing this, we can slow the loss of biodiversity in Washington and help endangered and threatened species recover while maintaining the natural beauty our state is known and loved for. However, without appropriate funding and support, this goal will be almost impossible to meet.

Increasing partnerships among established organizations and inviting public participation to expand conservation education is key to increasing environmental stewardship, from our backyard to our vast and beautiful parks, conservation areas, and refuges. By working together with our legislators, the WDFW hopes to secure funding to expand their efforts significantly in Washington state.

If you would like to help support this cause, please contact your local legislator and ask them to advocate for the expansion of funds for mitigating the impacts of habitat fragmentation and restoring wilderness across Washington State!
